In one paragraph

SmakSpace is a hospitality self-order kiosk, online ordering, bookings and loyalty platform serving Brisbane cafés, riverside restaurants, Queenslander-veranda venues and Queensland country pubs. It works alongside the EFTPOS terminals Brisbane venues actually use — Tyro, Square AU and Smartpay AU. Designed for Brisbane patterns: sub-tropical outdoor seating capacity management, riverside South Bank / New Farm tourism, West End and Paddington casual hospitality, Fortitude Valley late-night licensing, and the Queensland country-pub trade extending into regional towns where bookings + KDS + loyalty bundled into one platform replaces 2-3 separate subscriptions.

What's the best cafe POS for Brisbane in 2026?

The best cafe POS for Brisbane in 2026 handles sub-tropical outdoor seating capacity, works with Tyro / Square AU / Smartpay AU EFTPOS, and bundles bookings + KDS + loyalty rather than stacking 3 separate subscriptions. SmakSpace ticks these on NZ$49-$179/mo flat pricing (AUD billing on the roadmap). Also serves Queensland country pubs on the F&B side — we pair with specialist gaming systems rather than trying to do everything ourselves.

Brisbane hospitality

Tuned for Brisbane outdoor and riverside venues.

CBD & South Brisbane

Office-precinct lunch flow, riverside tourism, conference/event-driven peaks. QR pre-ordering for office workers, multi-language ordering for international guests.

West End & Highgate Hill

Multicultural casual hospitality, brunch peaks weekends, mixed café + restaurant + bar precinct. Modifier handling, allergen tags, dietary filters.

Fortitude Valley & New Farm

Bar / nightlife district + James Street design-led casual. QR rounds ordered from the table, routed to a bar screen with audio alerts, so the bar keeps pouring.

Paddington & Bardon

Queenslander-veranda café and restaurant strip. Outdoor seating capacity management for the sub-tropical climate, weather-dependent shift planning.

Riverside South Bank & Kangaroo Point

Tourist-leaning waterfront. Table bookings with reminders on request and no-show flags for high-demand sunset/dinner slots, walk-ins managed in same dashboard.

Queensland country pubs

Regional Queensland pubs (Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast hinterland, Gold Coast hinterland, Cairns). F&B-side POS + bookings + KDS bundled — pub trade we serve, not gaming.

Why it fits Brisbane

Built for the way Brisbane venues actually run.

Sub-tropical outdoor capacity

Brisbane venues run substantial outdoor seating year-round. SmakSpace floor plan supports outdoor zones with separate capacity vs indoor; bookings can be tagged to specific zones; rain forecasts can trigger ad-hoc capacity reductions before lunch service.

Riverside tourism patterns

South Bank, Kangaroo Point, New Farm and city Botanic Gardens precincts have significant tourist volume during cruise season and major events. Ordering page in 30 languages, table bookings with reminders on request and no-show flags.

Queensland country pubs

Regional Queensland pub trade — Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast hinterland, Gold Coast hinterland, Cairns — gets the same SmakSpace platform with one subscription replacing 2-3 separate POS / bookings / loyalty tools. F&B-side only; we don't do gaming integrations.

AU EFTPOS (Tyro, Square AU, Smartpay AU)

Your existing AU EFTPOS terminal keeps operating independently at the till. SmakSpace doesn't replace it, doesn't surcharge you for using it, doesn't force a processor migration. Tyro / Square AU / Smartpay AU compatibility confirmed during onboarding.

Bundled vs stacked subscriptions

A typical Brisbane casual restaurant in 2026 pays for POS + bookings + loyalty + KDS as 3-4 separate subscriptions. SmakSpace bundles them on Professional (NZ$99/mo) — same scope, one bill, one platform to learn. The bundling saving usually exceeds the per-tool cost difference.

Brisbane-time support overlap

Support operates NZ business hours, which translates to roughly 6am-2pm AEST in summer / 7am-3pm in winter — overlapping Brisbane morning service through to early afternoon. Round-the-clock 24/7 support is not in scope today.

Brisbane operator FAQ

Real questions from Brisbane cafés, restaurants and pubs.

The best cafe POS for Brisbane in 2026 handles sub-tropical outdoor seating capacity, works with Tyro / Square AU / Smartpay AU EFTPOS, supports the Queensland country pub trade in F&B terms (without trying to do gaming integration), and bundles bookings + KDS + loyalty rather than charging for each separately. SmakSpace ticks these boxes on NZ$49-$179/mo flat pricing — AUD billing on the near-term roadmap.
Yes. The floor plan supports indoor and outdoor zones with separate capacity limits; bookings can be tagged to a zone (e.g. "outdoor preferred"); and during inclement weather you can ad-hoc reduce outdoor capacity from the booking dashboard. Particularly useful for Paddington Queenslander-veranda venues and riverside South Bank / Kangaroo Point seating.
For the F&B side, yes — POS, table bookings, kitchen display, multi-outlet management, daily sales reporting. Not in scope: pokies / TAB / gaming-floor integration, ClubsAustralia compliance-specific modules. Queensland country pubs running gaming alongside their F&B typically pair us with specialist gaming-floor systems rather than trying to consolidate everything onto one platform.
Yes — your Tyro terminal keeps working exactly as it does today for in-person payments. SmakSpace runs alongside it and doesn't touch your card payments, and there's no surcharge from us for using your own EFTPOS. The same applies to Square AU and Smartpay AU terminals. We don't currently integrate with Tyro's payment APIs — confirm your setup during onboarding.
Lightspeed Restaurant operates in AU and bills AU customers in AUD, with the 1.5% surcharge widely reported for operators not using Lightspeed Payments. Square for Restaurants AU is well-known but ships without native bookings (you bolt on a separate platform). SmakSpace bundles POS, bookings, KDS, loyalty on one subscription. NZD billing for now.
Free to start — a hosted QR menu at NZ$0 forever, no card. Paid ordering plans use NZD pricing during the AU rollout phase: Starter NZ$49/mo, Professional NZ$99/mo (includes bookings + KDS + loyalty), Enterprise NZ$179/mo. AUD billing for AU customers is on the near-term roadmap. The NZD <> AUD spread is typically 5-10% and stable; AU operators may prefer to wait for AUD billing before signing — we won't pressure on that point.
Onboarding is designed to take 48 hours from menu setup to first QR orders. Your menu loaded from our CSV template or a photo of the printed menu, your customer list loaded in for you on request, and a soft launch on QR ordering by day 2 — your existing Tyro / Square AU / Smartpay AU terminal needs no setup and keeps operating independently. Bookings, outdoor-zone configuration and loyalty take ~1 week to be fully end-to-end live for a typical Paddington or South Bank venue.
