SmakSpace is a hospitality self-order kiosk, online ordering, bookings and loyalty platform serving Australian cafés, restaurants, pubs and RSL venues. Originally built in New Zealand, the platform operates in the AU market via the /au subfolder during the AU rollout phase. It bundles self-order kiosks, QR ordering, kitchen display, table bookings and loyalty on a flat subscription, works alongside Tyro, Square AU and Smartpay AU EFTPOS terminals, and is designed for the patterns of Australian hospitality — Sydney pub trade, Melbourne specialty coffee, Brisbane outdoor casual. HIGA-aware rostering is on the near-term roadmap.
What is SmakSpace's offering for Australian hospitality?
SmakSpace is an ANZ-built hospitality platform that bundles self-order kiosks, online ordering, bookings, kitchen display and loyalty for Australian cafés, restaurants, pubs and RSL venues. It works alongside Tyro, Square AU and Smartpay AU EFTPOS terminals, prices in NZD during the AU rollout phase (AUD billing on the near-term roadmap), and operates from NZ business hours with several hours of daily overlap into AU service times. HIGA-aware rostering is on the roadmap; it is not shipped today.
Built for the four venue types we serve in AU.
Cafés & specialty coffee
Melbourne specialty coffee, Sydney brunch venues, Brisbane Queenslander-veranda cafés. QR ordering for the morning rush, modifier handling for milk / size / shots, native loyalty (digital punch cards, cashback) and Xero AU exports.
Casual restaurants
Mid-tier restaurants from regional NSW to inner-Melbourne to Brisbane riverside. Table bookings, full menu management with allergen tags, kitchen display routed per station, end-of-day GST-correct reporting.
Pubs
NSW pubs, Victorian gastropubs, Queensland country pubs. QR table ordering so the bar keeps pouring, orders routed to a bar-screen KDS with audio alerts, bookings and loyalty included. Pokies / TAB integration is not in scope; we partner with operators who run those alongside.
RSL & licensed clubs
RSL Australia member venues and licensed clubs across NSW, VIC and QLD. Functions / events bookings module, multi-outlet F&B (restaurant + bistro + lounge bar), member discounting on the roadmap, integration considerations for ClubsAustralia compliance frameworks.
Honest about what's shipped and what's on the roadmap.
Tyro / Square AU / Smartpay AU EFTPOS
Tyro is the largest AU restaurant EFTPOS provider per its public material. SmakSpace works alongside your existing Tyro, Square AU or Smartpay AU terminal — your in-store EFTPOS keeps operating independently, no surcharge from us for using your own, no forced processor migration.
No marketplace commission
Direct ordering through QR menus and your own ordering page means zero per-order commission. Compare flat subscription pricing to ~30% per order on Uber Eats AU or DoorDash AU. The maths usually pays back within the first month for any venue with meaningful online volume.
HIGA-aware rostering (roadmap)
HIGA (Hospitality Industry General Award) compliance is genuinely complex — penalty rates, casual loadings, junior brackets, public holiday calculations. We have HIGA-aware rostering on the near-term roadmap rather than shipped today; we will not pretend otherwise. Operators with HIGA-critical rostering needs should pair us with a dedicated rostering tool today.
AU-time support
Support operates in NZ business hours, which overlaps AU business hours by 2-3 hours per day (NZ is 2 hours ahead in summer, 4 in winter). For most AU operators this is acceptable; for round-the-clock 24/7 support we would not be the right fit yet.
AUD billing on roadmap
AUD Stripe pricing is not live as of May 2026 — AU customers are invoiced in NZD for now via the SmakSpace.co.nz billing entity. The exchange exposure is real but small (NZD ~ AUD with 5-10% spread typically). AUD billing for AU customers is a near-term commitment.
Built in New Zealand
SmakSpace is built and operated in New Zealand. We are not a US or European product trying to localise to ANZ — we are an ANZ product extending from NZ to AU. That cuts both ways: we know ANZ hospitality patterns deeply but we are newer to AU than to NZ. We charge accordingly.
NZD billing during AU rollout.
Pricing shown in NZD during the AU rollout. AUD billing for AU customers is on the roadmap — contact us for an AUD quote in the meantime. Plans: a free hosted QR menu at NZ$0 forever (no card), then Starter NZ$49/mo adds online ordering, Professional NZ$99/mo (includes bookings + KDS + loyalty), Enterprise NZ$179/mo. NZD <> AUD spread is typically 5-10%. Contact us for an AUD quote if you'd prefer to wait for AUD billing before signing.
