Migration

From Bustle to bundled without a rushed cutover.

Day 0

Free POS audit

We review your current Bustle plan, active add-ons (Paperless, Regulr), EFTPOS integration, menu structure, modifier groups, daily covers and any open Regulr loyalty balances. We tell you exactly what we can match and what we cannot.

Day 1

Menu + customer setup

We load your menu items, prices and categories from our CSV template or a photo of the printed menu. Modifiers we set up with you, item photos we add by hand on request for larger menus, and on request we load your customer list and seed loyalty points for your regulars so they keep what they have earned. You sign off before we go further.

Day 2

Hardware + payments

We set up SmakSpace alongside your existing EFTPOS terminal (Smartpay, Worldline, Verifone, Windcave) and put the kitchen display on any tablet you already own. No new iPads or proprietary hardware required — SmakSpace runs in a browser.

Day 3

Soft launch

SmakSpace goes live on the counter, on QR menus and on the booking widget. Bustle stays running in parallel for 2 weeks while staff bed in the new workflow and you verify reporting against your existing Bustle reports.

Day 14

Switch and cancel

If you have gone kiosk-led or order-ahead we help you cancel Bustle entirely; otherwise keep Bustle on its base plan for the till and drop just the Paperless / Regulr add-ons SmakSpace already includes at the next renewal checkpoint. No double-paying, no rushed cutover.

Bustle migration FAQ

Real questions from NZ cafés thinking about switching.

No. Bustle is an established New Zealand-built café POS (Auckland-based) and is actively trading. NZ operators typically evaluate alternatives at contract renewal, when their feature requirements expand beyond counter POS (e.g. they want native bookings, kitchen display or online ordering), or when they want to consolidate the cost of paid add-ons (Bustle Paperless, Bustle Regulr) back into a single subscription.
Both are NZ-built. The difference is scope. Bustle is an iPad-led café POS with optional paid add-ons — Bustle Paperless (digital receipts) and Bustle Regulr (loyalty via the Regulr app). SmakSpace bundles POS, bookings, online ordering, kitchen display, digital receipts and loyalty into one platform on a flat NZD subscription, with no add-on bills for the bundled capabilities.
Per Bustle's public site as of May 2026, the published plans are Short Black NZ$65/mo, Flat White NZ$95/mo and Latte in a Bowl NZ$195/mo (+ GST), with add-ons Bustle Paperless and Bustle Regulr at ~NZ$44/mo each. Compare against SmakSpace free to start (hosted QR menu, $0 forever), then Starter NZ$49/mo, Professional NZ$99/mo (includes bookings + kitchen display + loyalty) or Enterprise NZ$179/mo. Confirm current Bustle pricing on bustle.co.nz before signing.
Not straight from a Bustle export — our menu importer reads the SmakSpace CSV template only. We load your menu for you from that template (items, prices, categories and dietary labels), or you photograph the printed menu and the AI transcribes it into unpublished items you tidy up and switch on yourself. Modifier groups we set up with you, and item photos we add by hand on request for larger menus. Customer lists are not a self-serve import, but on request we load yours during onboarding and seed loyalty points for your regulars. All of it is included in our free migration support for NZ café and restaurant partners.
No. SmakSpace runs in any modern web browser — iPad, Android tablet, Windows till, MacBook or phone. You can keep using your existing iPads if you prefer (no need to rebuy hardware just to migrate), or switch to a different counter device. Bustle is iPad-led by design; SmakSpace is hardware-agnostic.
You can run SmakSpace on Starter (NZ$49/mo) for self-order kiosk, QR and online ordering only, and leave bookings, kitchen display and loyalty switched off until you need them. The bundle is available when you want it, not forced on day one. SmakSpace has no staff-operated till: if you specifically want an iPad-only counter POS that staff ring orders into, Bustle on Short Black is the better fit.
Yes — and we recommend it. We suggest running both systems for 2 weeks in parallel, double-checking that menu structure, modifiers, EFTPOS flow and end-of-day reporting behave the way you expect in SmakSpace before cancelling Bustle at the next renewal date.
Yes. SmakSpace includes native digital punch cards, points, tier-based rewards, birthday automation, customer segmentation and email + SMS campaigns on Professional and Enterprise plans — so you no longer need a separate Regulr subscription on top of your POS. On request we seed loyalty points for your regulars as a one-off so customers don't lose what they've earned.
